The signature Subaru blue and gold rally livery returned to the team in 2019 and this weekend at the Ojibwe Forest Rally, Subaru Motorsports USA announced the return of a partnership from the same era with Motul joining the program as the Official Oil Partner. This partnership restores a deep connection between the Subaru and Motul brands that stretches back to victories in WRC from the likes of Richard Burns and Petter Solberg.
In 2009, the Motul and Subaru connection was extended to North America with a partnership to support Subaru Rally Team USA, including drivers Travis Pastrana and Ken Block. “We had a great relationship with Vermont SportsCar and Subaru Motorsports USA in the past, testing and developing our 300V and performance products for the Subaru WRX STI platform,” stated Joey Cabrera, Motul USA’s Technical Director of over 13 years, “Motul is proud to be back and believe we have the products needed to best support the success of the rally and rallycross programs.”
Motul Joins Subaru Motorsports USA With Double Podium at Ojibwe Forests Rally
21.09.2020
The renewed Motul partnership started on a highlight with a double podium finish at the Ojibwe Forests Rally, the first full two-day event on the ARA calendar since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis. Travis Pastrana and his brand-new #199 WRX STI and a new co-driver in Rhianon Gelsomino would take the top spot at the end of two days. Brandon Semenuk and John Hall in the #180 WRX STI fought back from a tire puncture in the opening three-stage loop to retake third place by the end of the rally.
As the Official Oil Partner, Motul will provide products, technical, and marketing support for Subaru Motorsports USA in all American Rally Association Championship (ARA), rallycross, Hillclimb, and marketing events across the United States.
