MOTUL partners with World MX2 Championship’s Standing Construct KTM team

01.03.2013

Successfully involved in all categories of motorsport around the world, lubricant specialist Motul is delighted to announce that it has formed a partnership with leading MX2 team, Standing Construct KTM.  Since the end of last season, the Belgian squad has become a factory-backed Junior KTM team in both the World MX2 Championship and in the European MX2 Championship.

With more than 60 motorsport titles clinched in 2012 using the company’s extensive and sport-specific range of products, Motocross and MX2 forms an important part of Motul’s portfolio of technical partnerships.  The global company, which has a presence in over 85 countries worldwide, will be supporting the former Suzuki-powered team in its quest for Championship success.  Standing Construct KTM will be using the race-designed 300V products within the Motul Factory Line range as well as products from the Motul MC Care range.

Standing Construct KTM’s Tim Mathys said of the association:  “We are very happy to continue our partnership with Motul. Last year we discovered that using the Motul products was a big part in having no DNFs [DID NOT FINISH] during the World Championship. Even in the toughest races, like the extremely wet Latvian Grand Prix, we managed to get our both riders at the finish (being one of only two teams who did that).  The whole range of Motul products helps us to have very competitive bikes and keep them running in excellent condition.  We maybe have changed a few partnerships from 2012 to 2013, but for sure we absolute wanted to keep working with Motul.”

Since October last year, when it switched from Suzuki, the team has had the benefit of KTM Racing factory parts such as engines and suspension and its recent win at the international season-opener at the Starcross in Mantova reinforced its stated aim of producing “World Champions of tomorrow”.

Standing Construct KTM has three riders in its stable for 2013 for whom it has high hopes.  In World MX2, Glen Coldenhoff, who secured the Italian victory, is a multiple Champion in his home of the Netherlands, and the 21-year-old has started the World Championship season in winning form.  He is joined in the category by young Austrian, Pascal Rauchenecker, who is thankfully now fully recovered from the ill health and injury which put him out of most of the 2012 season.   In European MX, the KTM Junior team will be represented by Belgian 18-year-old Damon Graulus, winner of the 2011 EMX 125 in Matterley Basin, who has the distinction of scoring points in his first ever Grand Prix.

In addition to the Standing Construct KTM partnership, Motul is involved in several other projects with the manufacturer around the world.  Team Socopur KTM of Peru has won the Latin American Motocross MX2 championships (250 cc) for the last two years, while 2012 French Road Racing Champion, Julien Tonuitti, is a KTM France rider.  Furthermore, KTM India recommends Motul 7100 4T 20W50 for the KTM Duke, extending the reach of Motul’s technical partnerships worldwide.
