Goodbye "Mr 300v"
05.06.2019
It is with much sadness that we learned today of the passing of Michel Sinson at the age of 84.
“A lube engineer”, as he liked to call himself, and Motul’ s Technical Director, Mr Sinson dedicated 40 years of his life to the formulation of our products from the mid 1960s onward.
A key product man and one of the pioneers in the internationalisation of the Group, we owe a debt of thanks to him for the development of our agreements with the most important Japanese manufacturers, alongside Masaki Shimizu and under the leadership of Ernst Zaugg.
A symbolic figure at Motul, it is thanks to Michel Sinson that the revolution started, from 1971 onwards, with the launch of the very first synthetic lubricant ever designed for cars: the now legendary Motul 300V.
Without Michel Sinson Motul would not have become the worldwide group it is today, renowned for the quality of its products and present now in more than 160 countries.
We will never forget his passion for his job, his pride in where the Group is today, his anecdotes fuelled by his travels in Japan, the bonds he was able to forge, his kindness and his infectious smile.
To his daughter Martine, his family and friends, we send our sincerest condolences.
Motul will be represented at his funeral, which will take place on Thursday 6 June in Brittany where he had chosen to live, by Hervé Amelot with whom he shared his pioneering spirit.
