I was browsing through Facebook looking at posts about Goodwood etc and I found the competition there and entered.
I was totally shocked. I’ve never really won anything in competitions before [laughs]. It was a pleasant surprise.
I met the Motul people at the Motul Garage at the start of the day, which was a nice kitted-out stand. As a Superfan, it meant I got access to all areas at the Goodwood Revival, including the paddock and the VIP hospitality area. They had really good food: breakfast, lunch, tea and cakes in the afternoon. And the things Motul had laid on for me included a lap of the Goodwood circuit in a Ford GT40, which was a bucket list experience. It’s not every day you get a chance to go out in one of those. They also had a helicopter ride of the Goodwood estate for myself and my partner. She was super impressed she got to share the same experience as me. To top the day off, I got to wave the chequered flag at the St Mary’s Trophy, the race that Motul sponsors. Again, that was another great experience and a nice end to the day. Motul certainly knows how to put on a prize, and everyone was so welcoming and happy. I didn’t feel out of place or a burden to anyone. Motul treated us both really well.
I’d been once before in 2019, which was general admission. This time the experience was 100% better. It was great getting access into the paddocks and seeing the prestige race cars in the private paddock.
Probably the display of the Stirling Moss race car collection. They had all his race cars there lined up. it was great to see how the cars had progressed over his career, but also the scale of his career. As a garage owner I love cars, so this was a great experience for me.
