MotoGP™ Roars Back Into Action With Motul

16.03.2018

MotoGP, the highest-revving, fastest, most-exciting motorcycling championship in the world, roars back into life on March 18th in Qatar and Motul will once again be at the heart of the action. The official pre-season test sessions in Malaysia, Spain, Thailand and Qatar are over, including a simulated wet weather test in the Middle East! – and the teams and riders are now ready to go!

The stats are enticing:  24 riders, 12 teams, 6 different manufacturers and 24,000 horsepower will line up for the 2018 MotoGP season, and the always-present thrills and sometimes-present spills will be seen this year at 19 races across 15 different countries across the globe.  The calendar has increased this year with the addition of the Thailand Grand Prix in Buriram.

Motul’s name in lights

Motul will once again be title sponsor of four races through the season starting with the second round, the Gran Premio Motul de la República Argentina (April 8th in Termas de Rio Hondo), then Motul TT Assen (1st July in the Netherlands), Motul Grand Prix of Japan (21st October at Twin Ring Motegi) and rounding off an action-packed championship with the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana (18th November in Valencia, Spain).

Zarco leads the way into the season

Motul will again partner with three teams, the two factory teams Suzuki MotoGP and Aprilia Racing Team Gresini, as well as Yamaha satellite team Monster Yamaha Tech3. Leading the way in testing in Thailand and Qatar, and making himself a hot favorite for victory, is 2017 Rookie of the Year Johann Zarco from Yamaha Tech3.  Paired this year with Hafizh Syahrin, the first Malaysian to take part in MotoGP’s premier class, Zarco will definitely be looking to add to his podiums and pole from 2017.  Watch this space!

Also impressing in testing were Alex Rins and Andrea Iannone from Team Suzuki and their performance promises much for the season ahead.  Joining Aleix Espargaro at Aprilia will be the experienced but still youthful Scott Redding, the youngest rider in Grand Prix motorcycle racing to win a race.

All three Motul supported teams will use special experimental engine oils which have been developed by Motul experts, in collaboration with Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia’s engineers and engine builders, specifically to respond to the extreme conditions and restraints presented by MotoGP competition.  They will also all use products from Motul’s comprehensive MC Care Range.

Follow the buzz, live the buzz, create the buzz…!

In 2018 Motul will increase its digital activation of its MotoGP involvement, taking the MotoGP Buzz concept one step further. From March 20th www.motul.com/mototgpbuzz will be integrated into the Motul website, in an area dedicated to fans who – when registered – can put themselves forward as a #MotulSuperFan.
