Wayne Maxwell joins team Suzuki

19.02.2013

This year, Motul has confirmed its involvement in the Australian Superbike Championship by renewing its partnership with the entire series. 'Australia is continuing to supply some of the greatest Superbike talents, and we're impatient to prove that to new enthusiasts,' declared Yarrive Konsky, who manages the championship.

Motul will also support this season several teams such as Cube Racing, with Ben Henry (Superbike class) and Alastair Hoogenboezer (Supersport class), as well as Racers Edge Suzuki, which is entering Beau Beaton (Superbike class) and Mitch Levy (Supersport class). Without forgetting, of course, Team Suzuki Australia, with which Motul has maintained a long-term relationship. The team is going to defend the title brilliantly clinched last year by Josh Waters, who has however left for an international career. He is replaced by Wayne Maxwell, who finished second last year, a mere 13 points from Waters.

With the GSX-R1000, the team is going to participate in the seven rounds of the championship, as well as in the Superbike races which will be fought at the opening  MotoGP race. 'I have something to prove, and having this opportunity with Team Suzuki is incredible,' announced the rider. 'My priority will be to help it defend its title.' For Phil Tainton, team manager, 'Wayne was the most serious threat to Josh Waters for several years. So, as Josh has left, it was logical for Wayne to join us. I'm sure he will adapt fast to the bike and will gain recognition as the rider to be beaten!' The inaugural round will take place on 22-24 February on Philip Island.
