Car restoration shows are booming. Successful series such as Rust Valley Restorers, Wheeler Dealers, Chasing Classic Cars and more are proving that there’s an appetite for classic car TV. Now, there will be a new show on air – Paddock Speedshop – a completely new programme aimed at the next generation of vehicle restorers, and partnered by Motul.
MOTUL PARTNERS WITH PADDOCK SPEEDSHOP: UK’S NEWEST CLASSIC CAR TV SHOW
30.03.2022
Putting a new spin on classic car restoration
Earlier this month, Motul announced its collaboration as official lubricant partner of Paddock Speedshop at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show with Discovery+, which Motul is also official lubricant partner of. It aims to put a fresh spin on car restoration by attracting younger enthusiasts into the world of classic cars and restorations.
Andy Wait, head of UK Motul PCMO sales, said:
“This is a truly exciting new development for Motul. Paddock Speedshop is fresh – and hugely relevant – for our growth in the classic vehicle market. As people will have seen over the last few years, the classic sector is really important to us. Our range of products targeted at older vehicles has greatly expanded and our partnership with the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs – together with its associated partnerships – as well as the launch and development of our Club Motul concept, emphasise our commitment to this sector. Now, our close involvement with Paddock Speedshop adds another key string to the Motul bow.”
A sustainable, solvent-free workshop partner
Motul is supplying lubricants, coolants, greases, and associated products for the show. It will also provide technical support and assistance to ensure the optimum results for all of the restored vehicles as they make their way back onto the UK’s roads and racetracks. Motul is also proud to deliver one of its new sustainable, solvent-free BioClean workshop cleaning systems to the Paddock Speedshop workshop, which ties in well with the overall ethos of the show.
Young petrolheads form the future for classic cars
Paddock Speedshop centres around a small group of twenty somethings who bring a number of different vehicles back to full working order over the course of each series. The programme is not only aiming at a new generation of potential restorers but is also seeking to give a modern-day interpretation of what a restored classic can offer. The show’s leading restorers are two 23-year-olds: Lucy Busby and Ethan Blake-Jones, who will be maintaining and restoring a varied selection of classics and youngtimers – both for everyday road use and also for competition. Resto-mod is often going to be the order of the day, but there is no hard and fast policy as each car will be assessed on its own merits, so many may well be straight restorations.
Series producer, Craig Blake-Jones, added:
“We are delighted to be working with Motul on Paddock Speedshop. Not only do they have a comprehensive portfolio of quality products that are already proving of real use to us, but their outlook is completely aligned with that of the show. The Motul brand has a fantastic history but also has that sense of fun and enthusiasm that fits well with Paddock Speedshop and that I think will make for a really good partnership.”
Paddock Speedshop is set to air later in the year in the UK and on Discovery+.
