ROBB HOLLAND TAKES PORSCHE CAYMAN GT4 RS TO VICTORY AT NASHVILLE

Straight after his epic win at Pikes Peak, Robb Holland has taken his Rotek Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 RS to victory again in the SRO’s GT America Championship at Nashville, Tennessee. The championship for GT4 cars saw Robb complete a pole-to-flag victory, holding off all other contenders and putting him third in the overall standings. We had a chat with Robb before he heads to Road America for the next round.

We were fastest in every session except for FP1 (where we were second) and we had two poles and two wins on the weekend. We head into Road America third in the championship and just 17 points off first and two points from second.

Yes, we’re leaving on Wednesday for Road America so it's three days on the fly. It's been pretty hectic. It was Pikes Peak and then just a two-week break before Watkins Glen and then to Nashville and now to Road America.

Yeah, it is. We've been chasing it all season long. And, you know, it's a new car for us this year. We haven't been able to do the testing we wanted to do in order to understand the car and get it into a window that works well. Every race weekend we’ve been playing with things to get the car better and better. And at Nashville, it kind of all came together. We had a great setup, and the course suited the car very well. We were pretty quick all weekend.

No, and I never did. I think it's a brilliant car. It's just that with every car, no matter how good it is, you still have to do the testing and the development to get the car competitive. Because our competitors are doing the same thing to maximise their cars. Without doing the testing, it's almost impossible to get there. Our knowledge of the car comes from our two test sessions during the race weekend. And that's just not enough time to make changes and really understand things. Fortunately, we've got a good crew at Rotec Racing, and we can count on everybody's knowledge to hopefully make it better and more competitive and that's what's been happening.

The car’s pretty good everywhere. It's just that it struggles in some of the longer corners just because of the balance of performance that the car has. You know, because of that they've given us some setup minimums that basically make the car struggle a lot more in the long corners. Nashville is the opposite of that. It's all very short, 90-degree corners so we were able to eliminate some of the negatives that the car has. Road America, which is coming up, is kind of similar. The corners are a little bit longer, but not quite as bad as we're going to see later in the season at Sebring and Indianapolis.

For a number of reasons. Motul has been our trusted partner for a very long time. And we have faith in all its products. Especially when you go to a street circuit like Nashville, where it was 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and you're in the in the middle of the city, so there's no airflow. The car generates a tonne of heat and it's probably some of the most stressful conditions that you can race under. So, knowing that you’ve got a product like Motul under the hood gives us the confidence to be able to push as that's what’s required to win.
