Jota Sport, brilliant winner in LMP2

After Sebring, the World Endurance Championship took the direction of Europe for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, on 5 May. Motul is very highly involved in this Championship and supports technically several teams, in various categories. This time, the surprise came in LMP2, with the win of the Zytek-Nissan of team Jota Sport. It shouldn't even have been there, since it is participating in 2012 in the European Le Mans Series. But following cancellation of the Zolder race in this same Championship, some teams were accepted for the WEC race in Spa, including Jota which therefore faced serious competition from highly professional teams. Its performance is therefore remarkable, especially as it was touch and go at the finish, since Simon Dolan and Sam Hancock finished only a few metres ahead of ADR-Delta's Oreca-Nissan.

In the GTE Pro category, among the teams supported by Motul, note is to be taken of the 3rd place of team Luxury Racing, whose Ferrari driven by Frédéric Makowiecki and Jaime Melo clinched 20th place in the overall standings. In GTE Am, one of the two Corvettes of team Labre Compétition was unfortunately forced to abandon the race after 121 laps, whereas  team Pecom (LMP2) started the race well before the Oreca-Nissan of Luis Perez Companc, Soheil Ayari and Pierre Kaffer suffered a collision with a Ferrari, which pushed it back to the lower depths of the standings and justified moreover one of the appearances of the safety-car. Meanwhile, the Lola of Status GP was not able to take the start because it came off the road impressively during the tests.

Last, but not least, Pescarolo Team obtained encouraging performances with its Dome-Judd on its maiden race. Without the electrical trouble that considerably slowed down the car, the times achieved by Sébastien Bourdais and Nicolas Minassian let it be hoped they'd be among the leaders.
In any case, the teams took advantage of this Spa round to fine-tune their cars before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the major event of the season of which the preliminary trials are scheduled for 3 June.
