How many bikes could they make out of parts available each weekend?
At least two more bikes will be available for most though factory teams could have up to around 6.
How many spare fairings at each race?
4-5 spare fairings per rider. Though riders who change between aero & non-aerodynamic fairings can have up to 10 spares.
How many screw heads and bolts go to each MotoGP race?
Depending on the manufacturer, bikes have around 200 odd screws and bolts in them, and spares can be up to 7000.
How many wheels does each rider have available?
Depending on your manufacturer, number of wheels can be between 14-30 wheels per rider with equal numbers of front rims to rear rims.
Which race uses the least amount of brake pads and which race uses the most?
Motegi uses the most brake pads with Barcelona and Sepang also on the ‘podium’. Teams use the least brake pads at Phillip Island!
What parts are changed most often in a race weekend?
Clutch discs and pads are changed most often on a race weekend. Though factoring in crashed, handlebars, engine covers, fairings, brake levers and foot rests are usually the first things to be swapped, too!
Do some riders go through handlebar grips more than others? How long do they normally last?
Yes, some riders can go up to 3 race weekends with the same grips (so long as they don’t crash), while others will go through a pair of grips every day!
How long does it take to pack everything away at the end of a race weekend?
Teams have this down to a tee after many years in the sport – but packing away still takes between 3-3.5 hours each Sunday!
Which part of the bike has the least amount of spares?
The main components of the bike have the least amount of spares – e.g. the engine and chassis. But wiring loom (or cable/wire harness) is also short on spares.
