Launched at the instigation of Pierre Vasseur and the Morel Family (Team MD Rallye Sport), L'Ecurie du Coeur is a team of rally-raid enthusiasts committed for an humanitarian cause: raise the general public awareness on the care of underpriviledged youths with severe health malformations.
- The team is entering for the 3rd consecutive year the Dakar Rally
- It is the only team to race for a charitable association - "Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque", that enables children with heart malformations to undergo surgery in France when they lack the technical and financial means to be cared for in their countries of origin.
The team features 11 riders among them:
- Porsche factory LMP1 endurance driver, Pikes Peak and Le Mans 24h Auto winner, Romain Dumas
- Albert Llovera, a former olympics alpine skier who became paralysed from the waist down after an accident. A buggy with adapted hand controls has specially been prepared for him.
- Etienne Smulevici who holds the record for the most participations in the Dakar Rally. He is entering his 33rd Dakar!
