Records are made to be broken, although the challenge consequently becomes more and more difficult … And Ryan Schnitz and the entire team HTP Performance (Richmond, Virginia) wouldn't contradict that.
In effect, at the beginning of October, during the MIRock Superbike Series Fall Nationals that took place at Maryland International Raceway, the rider of the Suzuki GSXR1300 Hayabusa 'Nitrous Oxide' made Dragster competition history by becoming the first rider to go under the 7 seconds barrier for the quarter mile (400 metres)!
With 6.907s and a speed of 203.6 mph (327.66 kmh) on the straight, this record was reached thanks to an awesome performance in the first half of the distance, as well as by a methodical improvement of the team throughout this year. With several passes between 7.1 and 7.0 since the beginning of the year in the minor competition, great effort had to be made at the best moment to officialise the performance! And that was done in the qualifyings!
As a technical partner of this impressive project for a Dragbike fitted with very fragile nitro engines, Motul supplied 300V 15W50 lubricant. This high viscosity grade is justified by a need for optimal safety for engines whose power is already too high...
